Came to honor Jim today, with smiles and tears.
Came to ponder him and say, his spirit’s here.
Laughter, he’d be chasing after;
Humor, no gloom and doomer.
Joking, always poking our funny bone with his subtle cheer.
Came with a heavy heart to raise our brother gone.
Do our part and sing his praise, with ode and song.
His wit, it would never quit;
He’d read with a hungry need.
His letters to the editors always righting something wrong.
Let’s remember Jim and cite his work amassed.
Let his embers brim so bright; thru the Pumphouse glass.
Artist, one of the best and smartest;
Knowledge, he was a walking college;
History was no mystery to this friend of the working class.
I’m here to honor Jim today, he came and went.
No fonder man than him I’ll say; oh no there ain’t.
He’d thirst, his heart would burst.
His lot, forever deep in thought;
He’d go by Jimbeau, to his family he’s a patron saint.
Came to honor Jim today, with smiles and tears.
Came to ponder him and say, he’s with us here.
