Healthcare is a Human Right

Single-payer is what it’s called; bottom line is Medicare for all.

Single-payer is what it’s called; new and improved Medicare for all.

There’s a dirty little secret all over this land;

A free market monster with invisible hands.

Thousands sick and dyin’ ’cause they got no cover,

They’re our neighbors and friends, our sisters and brothers.

Employer insurance with millions unemployed

Or workin’ minimum wage where they got no voice;

The only civilized nation without universal care,

The rest all get it, what’s the heck’s the problem over here?

They tell you who to see, they tell you where to go;

Some bureaucrat middle man you don’t even know.

Payin’ seven times more than anywhere else,

For administrative overhead and shareholder’s wealth.

You and your doctor’ll never call the shots,

As long as this system is all that we got.

Well open your eyes, it ain’t hard to see;

Don’t listen to the lies, the answer’s right in front of you and me –

[Chorus] Single-payer is what it’s called; bottom line is Medicare for all.

Single-payer is what it’s called; new and improved Medicare for all.

Our health is more important than their profit; it’s a fact of life.

Get the Insurance monkey off it;

In every State across the great divide,

Let’s make it a law, go nation-wide.

The truth’s in the dark, turn on the light;

Time to declare, health care is a human right.

They’ve had 50 years to get the problem solved;

Soaring costs and less access is where we evolved.

From infant mortality to shorter life span,

We’re 37th in the world, I think we need a better plan.

Avaricious insurers, pharmaceutical greed,

Outrageous co-pays for what we need;

In the richest nation, we got on this earth,

If health care ain’t a right, what’s all the others ones worth?

It ain’t no ‘Bolshevik’ medicine, or socialist plan,

Just a simple way to cover every woman and man.

We all put a little into one big spout;

Then it’s everybody in, and nobody out.

‘Obamacare’ ‘ll never work with vultures in charge.

It’s lipstick on a pig that’s much too large.

Step outside the bubble; it’s easy to see,

It ain’t rocket science, the answer’s right in front of you and me – [CHORUS]
